Wales U20s cap Harry Thomas will lead a youthful Scarlets side into the opening pre-season match of the campaign against Carmarthen Quins on Saturday (14:30).
The 19-year-old New Dock Stars product captains a starting line-up that includes only one player over the age of 22
Thomas packs down at hooker in between Llandovery’s Jamie Hughes – who featured against Exeter last season – and new tight-head signing Gabe Hawley.
Senior Academy duo Will Evans and Ollie Close link up in the second row, while the back row sees Will Plessis at openside alongside two members of the senior squad, Carwyn Tuipulotu and Ben Williams.
The back division is stacked with exciting young talent.
New signing Rhodri Lewis – who featured for Wales at the U20s World Cup in South Africa this summer – is handed the No.9 jersey and partners Elis Price, the younger brother of second row Jac.
The Price brothers, both products of the Quins’ junior system, could become the latest siblings to play in the same Scarlets side if Jac comes off the bench.
Macs Page and Gabe McDonald pair up in midfield, while the back three is made up of Senior Academy flyers Iori Badham, Jac Davies and Ellis Mee – a summer signing from Nottingham.
The bench includes senior squad members Sam Wainwright, Price, Jarrod Taylor and Efan Jones, Wales U20s hooker Isaac Young, as well as Academy prop Tom Phillips, back-rower Joe Denman, fly-half Ellis Payne and speedster Callum Woolley, who are all set for their senior debuts.
The full Scarlets squad will be at Carmarthen Park to help the Quins celebrate their 150th anniversary season so come along to grab an autograph or a selfie.
Admission on the gate is £12 for adults, £8 for concessions and free for U16s.
