Judgement Day makes its return to the Principality Stadium on Saturday, April 22, 2023, with Scarlets taking on Dragons RFC in the opening match of the showpiece double-header, kicking off at 3pm (BBC Wales).
Ospreys will then battle it out against Cardiff Rugby (5.15pm S4C) in what promises to be a gripping final weekend of BKT United Rugby Championship action.
Ticket prices start at £10 for an event which returns for the first time in three years when it attracted a 50,000-plus crowd to the stadium.
U16s concessions are available from £10, and for the first time, an over-65s concession is being introduced with tickets starting at £15. Adult tickets are priced from £25, which means a family of four can enjoy a day of back-to-back, high-octane rugby for £70.
All season ticket holders will get access to tickets from Monday, November 14, with tickets available for public sale from December 14 — just in time for Christmas. Season ticket holders for the ‘home’ teams this year (Ospreys and Dragons RFC) will receive their ticket free of charge as part of their season ticket package, but have the option to purchase additional tickets for friends and family.
As well as bragging rights, the stakes are high for all four sides as the battle for the URC Welsh Shield and automatic European Champions Cup qualification reaches a crescendo.
Scarlets head coach Dwayne Peel said: “It’s fantastic that Judgement Day is back as part of Welsh rugby’s calendar. We had a couple of high-scoring matches against the Dragons last season and with so many familiar faces in their group, it is a game we are all looking forward to.
“The Principality Stadium is an amazing venue and for a number of our players it will be the first time they will have played there. It promises to be a wonderful occasion and an exciting finish to the regular URC season.”
Dai Flanagan, head coach of Dragons RFC, said: “It’s great news that Judgement Day is returning to the capital. It’s a special day out for rugby fans across Wales and gives the regular season a fantastic final round for us all to look forward to. The opportunity to play at Principality Stadium is a special occasion for any rugby player and we are looking forward to facing Scarlets and our fans having a memorable day of rugby to enjoy in Cardiff.”
Martin Anayi, CEO, BKT United Rugby Championship, said: “We’re thrilled to see Judgement Day returning to the calendar as it is one of the headline events of our season. The inception of Judgement Day was an innovation when it debuted almost 10 years ago and it is a great way to showcase regional rugby to a broader base of supporters. Placing it on the final day of the BKT URC season will add more drama and jeopardy to the occasion and we hope that will provide a real draw for fans.”
WRU CEO Steve Phillips said: “It is with a huge amount of excitement and expectation that we welcome Judgement Day back to Principality Stadium, our (pre-Covid) annual celebration of all that is good about the United Rugby Championship and professional rugby in Wales.”
Tickets include access to watch both fixtures back-to-back. Season ticket holders are advised to purchase directly through their club and general public can purchase tickets from WRU.WALES/TICKETS
