Brython Thunder recorded a first win of the season with this dramatic 38-32 comeback victory against Edinburgh in Round 7 of the Celtic Challenge at Parc y Scarlets.

Wales centre Hannah Bluck’s two tries in the dying moments secured a famous win in a pulsating contest at the home of the Scarlets.

Bluck came on as replacement and two defence-splitting runs left the visitors reeling as a young home side secured a big win.

Scrum-half Seren Singleton crossed for two tries, while lock Robyn Davies and hooker Chloe Gant also claimed tries for Brython.

Bluck, skipper Natalia John and Singleton were the pick of a strong team performance for the Welsh side.

Thunder returned home to play on Welsh soil after a demanding fixture schedule on the road against the best teams in the league.

Captained by Welsh international John, Thunder welcomed back Wales centre Meg Webb to the starting line-up.

It was the visitors who opened the scoring with a try by wing Hannah Walker, who is the leading try-scorer in the league this season.

Thunder then created an opportunity for wing Ffion Davies after a turnover and a slick passing move, but the young wing was just hauled down short of the line.

The home side enjoyed some real pressure in the visitors posts with skipper John having a charge down but the Scots cleared their lines.

But Thunder were not to be denied when Singleton charged over from short range to level the scores. Fly-half Hanna Marshall added the extras to make it 7-5 midway through the first half.

The Scots replied with a try by prop Hannah McMahon, converted by Hannah Ramsay to make it 12-7 to the visitors. The home side hit back when Robyn Davies scored a second try after Thunder pounded the visitors line. Marshall added the extras to make it 14-12.Edinburgh then scored their second try by Lucia Scott and Macrae added the conversion

Singleton scored the try of the game after a superb break on the halfway line by centre Savannah Picton-Powell who delivered a perfect inside pass for the scrum-half to score under the posts.

Marshall landed the conversion to make it 21-19 at half-time to Thunder.

After the break, Macrae slotted an early penalty to take the lead in a tense and cagey start to the second half.

Gant then scored the bonus point try after a real period of pressure by the home side to retake the lead 26-22.

Replacement wing Amy Conchie and No. 8 Merryn Gunderson then scored Edinburgh’s fourth and fifth try to make it 32-26 to the Scots, before Bluck’s two-try intervention in the closing minutes clinched a famous victory for the Welsh side.
