Scarlets continued their preparations for the return of United Rugby Championship action with a competitive training session against the touring Crusaders side in Bristol.
Dwayne Peel’s squad spent the afternoon at Clifton College where they trained with the New Zealand franchise, who are preparing to take on Bristol Bears at Ashton Gate on Friday night.
Peel said: “With a couple of weeks without URC rugby we contacted the Crusaders to see if they fancied a runout and it was a fantastic exercise. We know how big the Crusaders are in terms of their history, for the last 30 or so years they have been the trend setters and standard setters.
“For the players and coach to be able to share some insight was great. It was a good training session, very competitive for us moving forward to this weekend’s friendly against Exeter and back into the league next week against Munster.”
The Scarlets head to Exeter on Saturday to take on the Chiefs (14:30), before attention turns to the visit of Munster to Parc y Scarlets on Friday, February 16 (19:35).
