Scarlets and Cardiff linked up for a training session at Parc y Scarlets this week ahead of the resumption of BKT United Rugby Championship action.

The Arms Park squad, including the likes of Wales internationals Callum Sheedy, Josh Adams and former Scarlets hooker Dafydd Hughes, went up against the Scarlets on the main stadium pitch for an hour and a half session, overseen by WRU referee Craig Evans.

After hoisting themselves to sixth in the URC standings after the opening block, Scarlets take on defending champions Glasgow Warriors at Scotstoun on Friday, November 29 in round seven of the competition.

Head coach Dwayne Peel said: “It was great, at this stage of the season everyone is struggling for numbers so in terms of having that competitive edge and being able to have that bone on bond contact ready for next week, it was really beneficial. It was also nice to have different faces here to freshen the week up. We are delighted Cardiff were able to come down.”

The sight of Tonga international Vaea Fifita back on the training field following injury was also a sight to hearten Scarlets fans.

Peel added: “It is nice to have Vaea back, Joe Roberts has been training as well, so that’s good. The boys have applied themselves well ahead of a big and important block for us.”

The Scarlets’ next match at home will be against Georgian side Black Lion in the second round of the EPCR Challenge Cup on Sunday, December 15 (1pm ko).
