Scarlets can confirm that Lee Blackett will be leaving the Scarlets to join Gallagher Premiership side Bath for next season.
The former Wasps head coach linked up with the Scarlets in November as backs and skills coach. He will join Bath as an assistant coach ahead of the 2023-24 campaign.
Lee Blackett said: “I have loved my time at the Scarlets. Thanks to all the coaches, staff and players, who were not only really welcoming, but ridiculously coachable in their desire to improve week on week, that was infectious for me as a coach.
“I’d like to thank Peely and Jon (Daniels) for offering me the role after everything that happened at Wasps. I loved being part of a club with such a proud history and passionate support; working alongside such a passionate Welshman as Babs (Gareth Williams) really opened my eyes to what the club means to everyone in West Wales.
“I also enjoyed the challenge of coaching in a new competition and against clubs I haven’t come up against before.
“I’m gutted we couldn’t see it through to a European final, but the players and staff should all be really proud how they turned the season around after a difficult start to the season and hopefully they take that form with them as they look to push on next season.”
Scarlets Head Coach Dwayne Peel said: “Lee has been a great addition to the Scarlets coaching team since November. Everyone – coaches, staff and players – have really enjoyed working with him and he has brought a lot with his experience and insight into the game.
“We all wish him well with his new role back in the Premiership with Bath.”
Scarlets General Manager of Rugby Jon Daniels said: “Since Lee has joined us, it’s allowed Dwayne to focus fully on his head coach duties and the results have been clear. We wish Lee all the best at Bath.”
Further announcements on the make-up of the Scarlets coaching team for the 2023-24 season will be made shortly.
