One of Wales’s brightest young talents, Macs Page, has signed a first senior professional contract with the Scarlets, graduating from the Senior Academy.

The 20-year-old has enjoyed a breakthrough season at Parc y Scarlets, making 13 first-team appearances and scoring four spectacular tries – including a stunning solo effort in the URC clash with Munster last time out.

A Pembrokeshire product, Macs started his rugby journey with Fishguard & Goodwick RFC minis before moving to play with Crymych RFC Juniors and Youth. A former pupil at Ysgol y Preseli he was part of the Swansea City football academy before committing to rugby.

Picked out as a player of huge promise, the centre was awarded a Scarlets Academy contract in 2021 and has gone on to dazzle for Wales U20s in the Six Nations and World Championships, scoring a hat-trick against Australia in the global tournament last summer.

Macs said: “I am excited to have signed my first senior pro contract. Growing up, it was always a dream to play for the Scarlets and I’ve been fortunate to have had that chance this season and now be part of the senior squad.

“The season couldn’t have gone much better for me personally, I have been lucky to have had opportunities and been able to score some nice tries along the way.

“We are a young squad with a lot of potential. There is still a lot to play for this season and I’m excited to see what we can achieve over the coming years.

“If you had told that six year old playing tag rugby in Fishguard that he’d be part of the senior squad at the Scarlets squad one day, I think he would have been pretty chuffed!!”

Dwayne Peel said: “When we first saw Macs as a teenager it was clear he was a special talent with a huge amount of potential and it is brilliant to see how he has taken his opportunities this season.

“Macs is an X-factor player who can deliver some big moments in games, as he has shown with the tries he has scored. He is also a young player who is continually working hard on his game. He has a determination to get better and I am sure that Scarlets fans are excited to see Macs develop in the jersey over the coming years. He is a home-grown player with a big future and we are delighted he has signed his first senior contract.”

Macs is the first of a number of contract renewal announcements to be made over the coming weeks.

A big thanks to our supporters Trust Crys 16 for their sponsorship of Macs this season.
