Scarlets confirm players who will be leaving the club at the end of the season

Rob LloydNewyddion

As we approach our final home match of the 2024-25 season, Scarlets can confirm that the following players will be leaving the club at the end of the campaign.

As in previous seasons, supporters will have the opportunity to say their farewells following Saturday’s BKT United Rugby Championship clash with Leinster at Parc y Scarlets when there will be a presentation on the field following the final whistle.

Negotiations are ongoing with other members of the squad and we will confirm all players who have been retained for the 2025-26 season in the coming weeks.

Diolch …

Steff Evans

The home-grown Wales international wing made his debut against Zebre in 2014 and has  gone on to play 11 successive seasons for the club, making 190 appearances. A devastating attacking threat out wide, the former Ysgol y Strade pupil has scored 74 tries in a Scarlets jersey and is currently the joint highest Welsh try-scorer in URC history. Capped 13 times for Wales, Steff was a key member of the 2016-17 PRO12 title-winning squad, scoring a stunning try that will live long in the memory in the final against Munster. He has battled back from a serious Achilles injury to feature this season.

Shaun Evans

The Felinfoel product made his Scarlets debut against Northampton Saints in 2017 and has made 65 appearances over eight seasons. Capped by Wales U20s in the back row, he has shown his versatility by playing in the URC and in Europe at hooker and flanker in recent years.

Ioan Lloyd

With the ability to slot in at fly-half and full-back, Ioan has made 41 appearances in two seasons for the Scarlets since signing from Bristol Bears in 2023, amassing 249 points. He is currently the highest points scorer in the URC this season. His return to Welsh rugby saw him earn a Wales recall for the 2024 Six Nations. Has signed for his home club Cardiff for next season.

Alex Craig

Alex joined the Scarlets from Gloucester in 2023 and made an instant impact, winning the players’ player-of-the-season award in his first campaign. His impressive form for the Scarlets earned him a recall to Gregor Townsend’s Scotland squad, the last coming in the 2024 November series. Has made 40 appearances so far for the club. Will be joining Glasgow Warriors in the summer.

Charlie Titcombe

Signed from Loughborough University’s BUCS title-winning side in 2023, Charlie has played 16 times in Scarlets colours, making his URC debut against the Vodacom Bulls in Pretoria and his first start against Leinster in Dublin.

Efan Jones

After starring at scrum-half for North Walian side RGC, Efan signed for Scarlets two years ago. He has made 14 appearances in a Scarlets jersey, scoring a try in the URC against Connacht and featuring in the EPCR Challenge Cup ties against Aviron Bayonnais and RC Vannes.

Ed Scragg

The former London Irish and Wales U20s second rower has made five appearances since arriving at the club in 2023, playing in the season opener against the Barbarians and featuring in the Challenge Cup matches against Castres Olympique and Black Lion.

Head coach Dwayne Peel said: “It is always a sad time  to say goodbye to players who are moving on, but I’d like to thank each one of them for their commitment to the club and the Scarlets badge during their time here.

“A special mention to Steff, who has been a part of the senior squad for more than a decade having come through the age-grade pathway here to become a great Scarlet and one of the leading try-scorers in the competition. He has produced many memorable moments, some incredible tries, that our supporters will cherish, especially during the season when we went on to win the league title in Dublin.

“We all wish Steff and everyone else the very best with whatever comes next and I am sure the supporters will show their appreciation on Saturday.”
