Scarlets back scheme to donate used rugby boots

Rob Lloyd News

Scarlets fans are being urged to donate unwanted rugby or football boots to children in the community as part of a new scheme set up in South Wales.

The Boot Room is the idea of football coach Carl Bradley, who has already collected more than 150 pairs since the scheme was launched in October.

Scarlets have joined forces with The Boot Room and there will be a special collection point at Parc y Scarlets for any used boots to be dropped off.

Scarlets players were at today’s launch to pledge their support, while we look forward to welcoming the boot room team to Parc y Scarlets for the European Challenge Cup match against Bayonne on December 14.

Carl said he was inspired to start up The Boot Room after hearing a parent at his son’s local football club saying she could not afford to buy her soon new boots.

“My aim is to help keep as many kids in sport as possible, whether that be rugby or football,” he said

“We have had a huge response to the scheme since it has been launched and are delighted to have the support of the Scarlets.
