The Scarlets have teamed up with Evans Pharmacy in recent weeks to vaccinate the whole squad against the flu virus.
The annual campaign to encourage people in eligible groups across Wales to have a flu vaccination and protect themselves from catching or spreading flu is underway and we’re delighted to our part to help spread the message!
Flu is an unpredictable virus that can cause mild or unpleasant illness in most people and it’s a virus that can spread quickly.
With over fifty players training and socialising together in close proximity on a daily basis there’s a high risk of the flu virus spreading far and wide making them an at risk group.
Nathan Brew, Scarlets Head of Commercial, said; “We’re very grateful to Evans Pharmacy for supporting us as we look to support the national Beat Flu campaign and keep our squad healthy over the winter months.
“It’s important for us all to play our part in the fight against the spread of the flu virus. We’re delighted to be able to help spread the message about the importance of ensuring that at risk groups are vaccinated rather than help the spread of the virus!”
Mo Nazemi from Evans Pharmacy added; “We are delighted to be able to support the Scarlets this year with their flu vaccinations.”
“The flu virus can impact on us all. The more we can do to protect our local communities and raise awareness of the vaccinations the better. For anyone wondering if they should have a flu jab or if they are eligible this winter, please pop into your local pharmacy where the pharmacy team will be available and able to help you. Beat flu this winter!”
